It would at least be good to know if someone else has exeperiened this. I manually start Live Update (that is another story), but this problem occures when Norton starts the Live Update automatically also.
At the same time, the WU log file increased from a couple hundred KB to about 30 MB. After several reboots, the NEXT update check went into outer space again and never came back.
Sometimes however, when the patch, or maybe even service pack, is being installed during shutdown or startup, the update installation gets stuck - freezes, locks up, stops, hangs, clocks... Windows Update is taking forever and it's time to fix the problem.
The installation of one or more Windows updates is probably stuck or frozen if you see one of the following messages persist for a long time: is all you'll see on screen.
If you can't connect to i Tunes, you can make room for the update by removing content on your device that you don't use.
To remove content, go to Settings You need an Internet connection to update i OS.
