Personally, I’ve never really liked first dates, especially if it was a blind date.

I feel a lot of pressure, and sometimes it’s just plain awkward.

You need to be sure you’re prepared for what’s coming and how you will handle it responsibly. Otherwise, you may mislead others into believing you are looking for something you’re not. There’s no point in moving on until you’re ready to move on. Do you want to start dating to fill a void left by your last relationship?

Make sure you’ve answered the real reason you’re venturing into dating so that you can come to the table with an open and honest heart. Or, are you honestly ready to spend the time and effort needed to get to know someone new?

Is it possible that there might not be any red flags in your relationship now, yet issues arise later in your spouse? There are no guarantees that a spouse might not walk away from you, God, or emotional health.

Because what I have tragically found is that Christian singles hit an area of desperation, particularly young women, and they will go: “Yeah, he is a Christian, he comes to church.” And really what they’re saying is this guy comes to church a couple of times a month, but outside of attending a service, he doesn’t have a real seriousness about growing in his understanding of the Lord, growing in his understanding of the Bible, being a prayerful person, no vivication or mortification that can be spotted, and no one who really knows them enough to speak to the growth in their character.

Now practically speaking, this means singles are seeking out people to speak into their lives.
