Nislick said he saw it a while ago and then went back to the post several weeks ago and realized that the young blonde woman wearing high-waisted jeans, a light blue shirt with VERY puffy sleeves and suspenders was actually a fairly well known Michigan politician and now political talk show host. Her former spokeswoman Liz Boyd sent her a link to the clip.
After watching it, Granholm said: “I’m still laughing so hard my stomach still hurts.”Former Michigan Gov.
LANSING, MI - It has been known for years that former Gov.
Jennifer Granholm appeared on "The Dating Game" in 1978. After Granholm's fiery speech to the Democratic National Convention last week - which some have called her Howard Dean moment - a video has surfaced on You Tube of her on the dating show.
She ran for Governor in 2002 to succeed Republican John Engler.
She defeated Engler's Lieutenant Governor Dick Posthumus by 51% to 47% and became Michigan's first female governor on January 1, 2003.
After she admitted that she had attended the protest in order to defend her friend, the Law School Ad Board began investigating Granholm, as well. Nesson ’60—famous for defending Daniel Ellsberg ’52 in the Pentagon Papers case—stepped forward to defend both students, according to the former governor.
“I’m a Democrat of the liberal persuasion and I have always admired Jennifer Granholm,” he said.
“And she was 19 years old, so I think she could be excused for being on a stupid show.” Granholm took the sudden Internet attention in good humor.
Granholm has continued on that path as a career public servant who served as Michigan’s governor during one of the largest economic crises in the state’s history.
FROM HOLLYWOOD TO HARVARDBefore becoming the first female governor of Michigan, Granholm was the first female tour guide at a marine and wildlife park, which supplemented her income as she pursued an acting career.
